2,500 Lose Power In Frigid Western Md.

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Potomac Edison is reporting more than 2,500 power outages in Allegany County, where temperatures are in the single digits.

The county emergency services department said Tuesday it's opening three warming stations, in Cumberland, LaVale and Mount Savage.

The agency says the outages are due to a fire at the utility's substation in Corriganville.

The department says Potomac Edison hopes to have power fully restored by 4:30 p.m.
