When the time does come to venture beyond the hotel's grounds, you'll find a bevy of dining options amidst St. Michaels' quaint but vibrant downtown. But if there's one restaurant that truly stands out from the rest, it would have to be 208 Talbot.

The newest eatery from legendary Shore chef David Clark has created a public house feel despite crafting regionally inspired dishes more suited for the fine dining rooms of Baltimore and Washington. Nonetheless, you can grab a seat in the brick-walled dining room or the back tavern, boasting a marble-topped bar and exposed wooden beams that cannot have been there for fewer than 150 years.

If you're able to forego the Tavern Menu (not available in the dining room on Saturdays), which includes braised short rib tacos, mushroom pizza and the softcrab BLT, try the asparagus ravioli or crab spring rolls before taking down the barbeque organic Scottish salmon over jalapeno cheddar grits; the Asian noodle bowl with Gulf shrimp, lump crab, Maine lobster and mussels; the grilled ribeye; or the duo of duck.

A full bar including daily drinks and wine specials certainly doesn't hurt, nor does 208's location along St. Michaels' main thoroughfare.

At last, big-city food in small-town comfort.
