2-Year-Old Dies In Apparent Pool Accident

MAUGANSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office says a 2-year-old boy is dead after an apparent accident at the family's swimming pool.

Deputy First Class Carly Hose said Monday that deputies were called Saturday afternoon to the home on Distant View Avenue in Maugansville.

She says the family found the boy unresponsive atop a winter cover over the pool. Hose says the cover had a small amount of standing water on it.

She says the family performed CPR on the boy until an ambulance arrived.

Hose says the boy was taken to Children's Hospital in Washington, where he died Sunday.
