2 Wanted In Hancock Slaying Could Be In Southeast

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) — Authorities say two suspects being sought in connection with the killing of an 81-year-old woman could be traveling through Florida, Georgia or South Carolina.

Washington County Sheriff's Office Deputy 1st Class Carly Hose said Tuesday that authorities are trying to gather more information to arrest 39-year-old Crystal Dawn Stanley and 42-year-old Jerry Wayne Smith Jr. Both face several charges, including first-degree murder, related to last week's killing of Margaret Rose McAllister.

McAllister's body was found Friday evening by family members inside her Hancock home. Deputies said an autopsy determined that homicide was the cause of death.

Stanley has been identified by investigators as McAllister's great-niece.

It's unclear if Stanley or Smith have attorneys.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Smith and Stanley is urged to call the Sheriff's Office at 240-313-2170.
