2 Top Baltimore Police Officials Leave City Department

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Two officials have left the Baltimore Police Department, including one who oversaw its bureau of "Professional Standards and Accountability."

Interim Commissioner Kevin Davis confirmed the departures Thursday to The Baltimore Sun.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Garnell Green rose to the accountability position in late April, when Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez left. In recent years, Green also oversaw the homicide unit and the

Office of Internal Oversight. That included the unit that investigates police-involved shootings and serious uses of force.

Davis said Green was retiring after a 26-year "stellar career."

A department news release Friday said Green's retirement will be effective Sept. 2.

The other leader leaving is Tom Moore, a "chief financial officer" who oversaw the management services division. Davis declined to comment further on his departure.
