2 Suspects Arrested for the Murder of 83-Year-Old Man

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Two men have been arrested in connection to the murder of an 83-year-old man, according to City police.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Cambria Street Friday where they found 83-year-old James Herget dead inside his home.

Police arrested and charged 46-year-old Derrick Carter and 24-year-old Steven Stawara with murder.

Investigators believe that Carter and Stawara entered the victims home in an attempt to steal property. During the burglary, Herget was stabbed several times. The suspects then took items from the home and left the location.

After not hearing from Herget, a family member went to his home and found him deceased inside. The family member then called police.

Both suspects also lived in the 400 block of Cambria street and investigators believe they knew the victim.

Carter and Stawara were transported to Central Booking and Intake Facility. They were both charged with 1st-degree murder.
