2 Seriously Injured In DC-Area Crash Involving USPS Truck

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Two people have sustained life-threatening injuries after a United States Postal Service truck landed on top of a SUV in Silver Spring.

Montgomery County Fire spokesman Pete Piringer says the crash happened early Monday morning on Cherry Hill Road at Calverton Boulevard. A man and woman were extricated from the SUV and were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

A third person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hazmat crews were called in to handle a fuel spill resulting from the crash.

Cherry Hill Road has been closed in both directions.
