2 Sentenced For Passing Counterfeit Bills

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A woman and her daughter have been sentenced to prison for passing counterfeit bills in Maryland, resulting in losses of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Brenda Moody, 47, was sentenced to 27 months in prison. Her daughter, Cierra Jackson, 28, was sentenced to 18 months.

Both were ordered to pay restitution at sentencing Tuesday in federal court in Baltimore.

Prosecutors say Moody and Jackson, both formerly of Baltimore, moved to Miami in 2008 and became part of a ring of people who distributed counterfeit $100 bills.

According to their plea agreements, Moody passed and recruited others to pass counterfeit bills, resulting in a loss of $347,700. Jackson passed counterfeit bills resulting in a loss of $140,600.
