2 More Officers Sentenced In Inmate Assault

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say two former correctional officers have been sentenced for their roles in the beating of an inmate at the Roxbury Correctional Institution near Hagerstown.

Jeremy McCusker was sentenced to 21 months and Walter Scott Steele was sentenced to four months in court in Washington on Wednesday.

Both had entered guilty pleas in the 2008 assault of inmate Kenneth J. Davis to punish him for striking an officer during a prior shift.

Authorities say 16 current or former officers at RCI have been convicted in connection with the incident.
