Couple Murdered Inside Randallstown Home; Police Looking For Answers

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police are investigating what they say is a double homicide after two people were found dead in a Randallstown house Monday morning.

The Baltimore County Police Department confirms the call came in at 8:51 a.m., about someone suffering from cardiac arrest.

Authorities responded to the 4100 block of Bald Eagle Court, off Winands Rd., and found Chinika Shari Hursey, 36, and Steven Scott Campbell, 36, dead inside the home.

Police say Hursey and her boyfriend, Campbell, were killed during the overnight hours by an unknown suspect inside their home.

Hursey's children were home during the night but were unharmed. Police do not believe that these homicides were random.

Neighbors are completely unraveled by the news.

"It makes you wonder about your own safety," says one neighbor.

Police say they were dispatched for a cardiac arrest call to a home off Bald Eagle Court. Once inside, first responders made note that something appeared suspicious.

"Bodies appear to have been there for a while"

Police saying they do not believe the murders were random. They have also revealed Hursey's children were home at the time but were not hurt.

"These two people in this house were targeted in some way," says Baltimore County Police Spokeswoman Jennifer Peach.

Many in the community are still at a loss for words over this tragedy. One neighbor describes hearing gunshots coming from the home. Corey Johnson tells WJZ he heard screams, but didn't make much of it until he got a call later on in the day.

"This really hits home and this a quiet neighborhood. There is no drama in this neighborhood... This is a very untimely and unfortunate thing to happen," he says.

Police so far only say the couple was found with trauma to the upper portion of their bodies. Many hoping the answers start coming sooner rather than later.

Right now it's all speculation, we don't know what's what," says Johnson.

Police say they are actively looking for a suspect in this case, but do not have a description. The medical examiner will determine the official cause of death for the couple.

Family members tell WJZ, Hursey was a mother of four, and Campbell a father of three. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
