$1M Mega Millions Ticket Was Sold At A New 7-Eleven In Essex

ESSEX, Md. (WJZ)—You may know someone who's suddenly become a millionaire, and it's the talk of the town in Essex.

Ron Matz reports a $1 million Mega Millions ticket was purchased at a new 7-Eleven on Eastern Boulevard.

"You're kidding me. Wow. I'm amazed. I'm going in to get mine," said Tim Orr, of Essex.

We're not kidding. The "winning ticket sold here" sign went up Wednesday morning at the 7-Eleven at 25 Eastern Boulevard.

At "7 o'clock this morning the lottery called to say that we won. I flipped out. I said 'Oh my God. Thank you,'" said Mary, 7-Eleven franchisee.

They're all flipping out in Essex. There's a millionaire in their midst.

"I think it's great. I'm loving life. I went to see my mother at Riverview, and you guys were here. I hope it's an Essex winner. Good luck," said Anna Waggner, of Essex.

And good luck for Mary. The franchise owner gets $1,000. She says the $1 million ticket was picked at random.

"It's good. Good for the neighborhood, good for the community, good for the shopping center, and good luck to the person who got it," Mary said.

This is a new 7-Eleven. It's located near the Back River Bridge. It's only been open for about a year.

The winning ticket "is going to bring more people in. It will generate more business. I think a lot of people don't know we're open yet, and this will open some doors for us," Mary said.

The winner of the $1 million prize has not come forward yet. No one hit the mega jackpot Tuesday night, so Friday's drawing is worth $216 million.
