19,000 Chickens Killed In Wicomico County Fire

WILLARDS, Md. (AP) -- Officials say 19,000 2-week-old chickens were killed in fire in a chicken house in Wicomico County.

The State Fire Marshal's office says the first was reported about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday in Willards.

WBOC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1JOb8TW) that about 45 firefighters battled the blaze for an hour before bringing it under control.

Damage was estimated at $320,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
