19 Injured In AACo. RTA Bus Collision, Police Say

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Nearly two dozen people were hurt in a crash involving a bus and a car in Anne Arundel County on Saturday night, authorities confirmed to WJZ.

Crews from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department were called to the scene, located near the corner of Dorsey Road and Harman Road, about 8:40 p.m., the agency said. The collision sent a Regional Transit Authority bus, carrying 26 people, veering off the road, crashing through a guardrail before ending up in the woods, according to the fire department.

Anne Arundel County Police said in a new release on Sunday that a Toyota Corolla cut off the RTA bus.

Police say 17 of the 26 bus occupants were transported to area hospitals and treated for minor injuries.

Two occupants of the Toyota Corolla were also transported and treated for minor injuries.

The crash shut down Dorsey Road between Shipley and Telegraph Road for more than an hour as crews worked to clear the scene and treat crash victims.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision, investigators said.

The accident is still under investigation and citations are pending.
