16-Year-Old Shot On Grounds Of Oxon Hill Recreation Center

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say they're investigating a shooting that took place outside a community recreation center in Prince George's County.

The Maryland-National Capital Park Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot Thursday night after he encountered a group of people he knew on the grounds of the Birchwood Community Park and Recreation Center in Oxon Hill.

Police say when the teen was spotted by the group, they began following him. Police say one of the suspects fired at the victim and hit him several times.

Authorities say officers were called to the recreation center and found the victim at the Oxon Hill Volunteer Fire Department, where he had gone for help.

Police say the teen was taken to a hospital, and is currently listed in good condition.
