13 Vehicles Involved In Chain Reaction Crash On 695

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The outer loop of 695 west just before 83 is closed after 13 cars were involved in a chain reaction crash.

According to officials, a vehicle hit the jersey wall, then became disabled in the roadway. Oncoming vehicles slammed into the car, causing a chain reaction crash and a tractor trailer to jackknife.

A private ambulance is one of the vehicles involved; there was not a patient in the ambulance at the time.

Police say 11 people have been taken to the hospital; their conditions are not known.

Traffic is now getting by on the shoulder.

Debris cleanup continues.

Drivers are asked to use 83 north/Harrisburg Expressway as an alternate route.
