130 College Students Will Spend Spring Break Helping Baltimore's Youth

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- One hundred and thirty college students from across the country will spend their spring break engaging Baltimore students.

The program is all part of United Way of Central Maryland's alternative spring break which kicks of on March 18th.

The organization says students from the University of Southern California, University of Massachusetts and Wells College will participate in a STEM activity, engaging with sixth and eighth graders at Elmer A. Henderson, in Baltimore.

Participants will work on two projects,  using everything from tablets to paper and pencil, and toys. The college volunteers will provide the curriculum, project materials and will work with the students in small groups.

United Way of Central Maryland says they have partnered with Break a Difference to give college students a chance to trade in their beach towels for tool belts.
