12 Hand Grenades, 1 Possibly Live, Found in Hagerstown Home
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Police and fire officials say 12 military-style hand grenades, including one that might have been live, were found in a Hagerstown home.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal said in a news release that Hagerstown Police were called to the home Tuesday for a domestic dispute. Authorities say while officers were conducting interviews, they saw ordnance and called for the bomb squad.
Police say a resident made threats to blow up the house during the dispute. The home was searched and 12 hand grenades were found.
Authorities say one grenade had a plug and an x-ray determined it was potentially a live grenade. The grenade was taken away and rendered safe.
Sixty-eight-year-old Richard Detrick was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of and threatening to explode a destructive device.
