1 Man Injured In House Fire In North Potomac

NORTH POTOMAC, Md. (AP) -- Officials say one person has been injured in a North Potomac house fire.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer says the fire happened early Tuesday. Officials say when firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the basement and first floor of the home.

Piringer says two people inside the home were able to get out on their own after being alerted to the flames by a smoke alarm. Officials say one man was transported to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and possible respiratory burns. It's unclear how many people were in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire officials believe an electrical problem may have started the fire. Officials say damage is estimated at $500,000.
