1 Dead After Apparent Road Rage Shooting On D.C. Freeway

WASHINGTON (AP/WJZ) -- D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says one man is dead after what appears to be a road rage shooting on Interstate 295 during rush hour.

Police say two men were found shot in an SUV along northbound lanes of the Anacostia Freeway in southwest Washington on Thursday morning. Lanier says one man has died and the second man was taken to an area hospital.

Lanier is asking any 911 caller who reported the incident to call back to speak with detectives. She is also asking anyone who saw a confrontation on that stretch of road around 8:45 a.m. Thursday to call police.

Lanier says the highway will be closed for several hours while the shooting is investigated.
