1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized In Emmitsburg Fire

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -- One person was dead and two people were injured in a fire that broke out in a fire in an Emmitsburg apartment building.

The fire was reported about 10 a.m. Monday off West Main Street, according to a news release from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. Firefighters from the Vigilante Hose Company removed three people from the burning home.

The sheriff's office says one person was pronounced dead at the scene. One person was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and another to a burn center in Philadelphia.
Emmitsburg is about 47 miles northwest of Baltimore.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
