1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured In Salisbury Fire

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Fire officials say a man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a fire in a duplex in Salisbury.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says the blaze was reported about 5 a.m. on Patrick Avenue. About 25 firefighters from the Salisbury and Delmar Fire Departments battled the blaze.

Officials say two people were removed unconscious in the home and taken to a local hospital.

The fire marshal says William Holdbrook Jr, 66,. died at the hospital. Mary Holdbrook, 41, is in critical condition.

Authorities say the fire began in the main bedroom and did $80,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
