Man accused of killing woman, shooting himself in DeKalb County Publix parking lot, police say

DeKalb County police have arrested a man for the deadly shooting of a woman in a local Publix's parking lot.

Officials say the shots rang out around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday near the grocery store on the 3000 block of Panola Road.

Officers responding to the scene found a woman and a man who had both been shot.

The woman, identified as 25-year-old Chayla Cummings, died at the scene. The man, 23-year-old Isaiah Tarver, was rushed to a local hospital.

On Thursday, investigators say they have determined that Tarver shot and killed Cummings and then shot himself. He's now facing a murder charge.
