Georgia inmate ordered Uber to evade deputies, manhunt continues

Rockdale County deputies say the search for the escaped inmate intensified on Tuesday.

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office confirmed that inmate Timothy Shane requested an Uber on Monday night to a residence in south Rockdale after leaving a silver Pontiac Grand Prix at the Publix on Highway 155 in Henry County.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the home, but Shane was not found. He is still considered armed and dangerous, and believed to be wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark blue pants, and now has shoes.

Georgia inmate escapes from Grady Hospital, steals SUV

Shane was last seen driving a Pontiac Grand Prix, which he stole near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Video footage captured him taking the vehicle, and deputies reported it traveling on GA 138 in Rockdale County toward Henry County.

Rockdale County authorities say the Pontiac Grand Prix that escaped inmate Shane was last known to be driving was located at a Publix in Henry County off Highway 155.

Officials said they do not know whether he stole another vehicle or is still in the area.

Shane's escape began early Monday morning after he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital at around 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, following a suicide attempt. While in deputy custody for a medical evaluation, Shane ran from the hospital around 1:20 a.m. Monday, prompting the ongoing multi-agency search.

Authorities continue to urge anyone with information on Shane's whereabouts to call the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office at 770-278-8000 and not to approach him.

Police report: Escaped inmate led officers on 128-mph chase; kidnapped woman mouthed "help me" before arrest

According to a Conyers Police Department case report obtained by CBS News Atlanta, investigators state that Timothy Shane's initial arrest on Nov. 23 was the result of a 13-mile high-speed chase after officers spotted his vehicle at a Conyers gas station.

A female passenger mouthed "help me" to a store clerk before police attempted a traffic stop, the report says. Shane allegedly fled at speeds topping 120 mph before crashing in a neighborhood and running into the woods. Officers used a Taser during his arrest.

Police say the woman later told them she had been kidnapped earlier that day in Covington, forced to withdraw money from ATMs, and threatened with a handgun.

Officers recovered a loaded .40-caliber Taurus pistol, marijuana, and methamphetamine from the SUV. Shane also had active Newton County warrants for carjacking, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a crime.
