1998: "Ex-gay" says conversion therapy works

California is the first state to ban conversion therapies aimed at making homosexual minors straight. In 1998, Lesley Stahl reported on Exodus, a Christian program, that claimed to do just that: convert gays through Bible study, behavior modification and peer counseling.
