VIDEO: Passenger attacks cabbie after refusing to pay fare

DALY CITY, Calif. - Police in Daly City, Calif. are asking for the public's help in identifying a passenger who refused to pay his taxi fare and was then captured on video assaulting the driver, reports CBS San Francisco.

The assault happened early on the morning of February 15, according to police.

"He just started punching and kicking him in his face, resulting in major facial injuries," Sgt. Ignacio Reyes of the Daly City Police told the station.

According to police, the suspect hailed the cab in San Francisco and asked to be driven to a location in nearby Daly City.

Once he got there, police said the suspect jumped out of the cab and refused to pay, reports the station.

"That's when the cab driver confronted him, asking him to pay for his fare," Reyes said. A physical altercation ensued and was captured on the cab's dash cam video.

Several witnesses were present during the assault, but none stopped to intervene, according to CBS San Francisco.

Police say the suspect is a man between the ages of 25 and 35 and is about 5'7". He was last seen wearing a long dress shirt and a pink tie and was heard speaking with an accent.
