(CBS News) -- President and Mrs. Obama welcomed thousands to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, marking the 134th time the First Family and the Easter Bunny teamed up for fun and games on the South Lawn.
"I think the president is going to try to beat a three year old," Mrs. Obama said from the South Portico balcony, "which I hope he does not."
This year's theme, "Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move," is a part of First Lady Michelle Obama's ongoing fight against childhood obesity. In addition to the egg roll, events included an obstacle course, basketball, dancing, jump rope, yoga and cooking demonstrations - all of which were designed to teach families about healthy living habits.
"I hope you've put on your comfortable shoes," Mrs. Obama said. "We've got ours on, right - all the Obamas here."
White House officials expected more than 30,000 children and parents to gather for the roll. The event is the largest public gathering at the White House each year and dates back to 1878 when President Rutherford B. Hayes started the tradition.
