Four Things To Look Out For When Seeking International Adoption:

  1. Make sure the adoption agency is a member of the Joint Council for International Children's Services.

  2. Make sure you have all the chid's ORIGINAL medical records in THE CHILD'S NATIVE LANGUAGE and then have them translated here in the
United States. Vital information gets lost when you receive the records in translated form.

  3. Have all the agency materials, such as bios and videotapes reviewed by an international adoption clinic (e.g. University of Minnesota International Adoption Clinic) to verify their authenticity.

  4. Have all the adoption contracts reviewed by a private attorney BEFORE signing. It is worth the expense.
