Katie Couric's Notebook: Subway Spaghetti

Back when Carrie was dating Berger on Sex and the City, she got a jury summons. At jury duty the man next to her opened his briefcase and removed a mango.

I thought of that scene when I heard about the infamous "subway spaghetti" video.

Admittedly, it's not my style to eat a hearty Italian meal on public transportation, but would it provoke me to pick a fight with another passenger? Not likely.

This video is sparking conversations about subway no-no's like loud music, littering or laying down.

All of those are rude, for sure.

But what about the person filming the incident? What's weirder? Eating spaghetti, or finding it so fascinating that you would surreptitiously record it for posterity?

Just like eating on a train, it's not illegal to post every move under the sun on YouTube. But it's annoying.

A little cyber-courtesy is appreciated...by your fellow passengers on the planet.

That's a page from my notebook.

I'm Katie Couric, CBS News.
