"Dancing with the Stars" eliminates first contender
It's elimination time.
Contenders learned their fates in the first results night of season 19 of "Dancing with the Stars."
The results show followed Monday's debut with 13 couples taking to the dance floor. Alfonso Ribiero and partner Witney Carson wowed on the first night, while others garnered some pretty low scores.
Judges' scores and viewers' votes determined that fashion designer Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovolani and pro-athlete Lolo Jones and Keo Motsepe finished in the bottom two.
By the end of the night, the Olympian learned she would be leaving the ballroom. Her first dance did not impress; she blamed a missed cue for her issues. The night before she called her own routine "awful" and said she performed much better during rehearsals. The elimination hit extra hard as it's Motsepe's first season on the show.
Jones took to Twitter after the show:
She also posted a prayer and message on Facebook, noting: "My time was brief but the lesson is lasting. Thank you everyone who wrote me kind messages. You were helping me not fall into darkness."
The episode also featured a performance of "My Girl" by Aloe Blaac and Smokey Robinson.
"Dancing with the Stars" returns Monday on ABC with the 12 pairs competing for the mirrorball trophy.
