Adele pregnant with first child

(CBS News) Adele is singing a new tune - one about motherhood.

The British songstress, 24, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Simon Konecki.

"I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together," she wrote on her website Friday. "I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx."

The singer has had a milestone-filled 2012. She won six Grammy Awards and her sophomore album, "21."  has been a chart-topping success.

She and the 36-year-old Konecki, who heads up the U.K. charity Drop4Drop, began dating last summer, according to the Daily Mail, before going public with their relationship in January.
