When 60 Minutes traveled to Kenya to report on the poisoning of lions, the crew came upon some breathtaking scenery, in this case the Laikipia plateau in northcentral Kenya.

Mara
The purpose of the trip was to document the poisoning of lions by local farmers, who have been using a pesticide to kill off potential predators of their cattle.
Mara's Checkup
Researchers needed to put a new collar on a lioness named Mara. She was darted and put to sleep. The researchers had less than an hour to do their work before Mara would wake up.
Sleeping Beauty
As Bob Simon noted a sleeping lion is a deceptively gentle creature. Her coat, which looks exquisitely smooth, is actually quite rough to the touch.
