Find the Best Shops and Services During Your Next Airport Layover
One of the reasons I despise traveling so much is the many interminable layovers I've suffered at some of America's finest airports. The next time I am subjected to a three-hour wait at O'Hare, though, at least I'll be better equipped: I've found an iPhone app that is sort of like Yelp for airports.
GateGuru has a comprehensive list of airport shops and services, which you can browse or search with ease. Like Yelp, GateGuru relies on user ratings and reviews to help differentiate entries. And while many of the reviews are relatively unhelpful -- what, really, is there to say about any particular Hudson News? -- some of the reviews are insightful and will save you from a bad meal or indifferent service.
The app includes concourse maps, photos of the amenities, the ability to bookmark favorites, and more. One cool feature: special deals to help make your layover less punishing. For example, I've seen offers for free appetizers at restaurants as well as discounts on access to lounges.
You don't need to register to use the app, but you do need to create a free account in order to post reviews.
