TUCSON, Ariz. (CBS/KPHO/AP) Christie Elliot just can't seem to learn her lesson.
Police re-arrested the former Tucson high school teacher and cheerleading coach - who's already facing child sex charges - because she allegedly tried to contact the 15-year-old male student she's accused of having sex with.
Officers say the 25-year-old Elliot was taken into custody Thursday, June 10 and booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of influencing a witness. They say Elliott tried to offer the teenager money, to get him to change his testimony against her in an upcoming hearing.
Police say Elliott's attempt to contact the boy via a third party is a violation of the terms of her prior release from jail.
Elliot formerly taught English at Empire High School, where she also was the cheerleading coach, according to CBS affiliate KPHO.
According to police, the case originated when a parent found inappropriate messages on his son's cell phone in April and reported them to the school. A police investigation included search warrants and interviews, and concluded that the boy had an inappropriate sexual relationship with Elliot.
She was first arrested May 17 on charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, and sexual conduct with a minor.
