French president defends plan to raise retirement age amid new protests over pension reforms

Protesters in France continued to demonstrate Thursday against the government's plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. President Emmanuel Macron defended the pension reforms in a televised interview on Wednesday, saying they were necessary and would take effect by the end of the year.
