Windsor Castle banquet held for Emir of Kuwait

Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, was a guest of Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle this week on a three-day state visit that was filled with banquets, ceremonial events and a meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron.

Sheikh Sabah, 83, was treated to a military parade and state banquet at the castle outside of London, met privately with Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, in London and was guest of honor at an event for British industry leaders hosted by Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

At the castle banquet, guests dined on poached turbot, Windsor partridge and dark chocolate gateau to a mix of music - everything from Bach to the Beatles, according to the BBC.

The Queen spoke of the "enduring ties" between the U.K. and Kuwait, and the emir praised Britain for being "confident, creative, multiracial, tolerant and welcoming to the world."

This is Britain's first state visit from Kuwait in 17 years.
