(CBS/AP) OAKLAND, Calif. - Tiffany Lopez, a California mother,  pleaded guilty this week to smothering her 2-year-old daughter because she was frustrated that the little girl was crying.

Lopez, 21, told police she accidentally sat on her daughter, Kamilah Russell, in March 2010 during a game of hide-and-seek at their apartment. She said the toddler was hiding between couch cushions when she sat down and accidentally suffocated her.

However, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Lopez later admitted to investigators that she used her hand to smother her daughter because she was frustrated with her crying.

The paper reports that Lopez was facing trial, but this week agreed to a deal in which she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. She will be sentenced in January and is expected to face 15 years-to-life in prison.
