Scott Foley to become series regular on "Scandal"

[SPOILER ALERT!] It looks like Jake Ballard shall live to charm Olivia Pope once again.

Scott Foley has been promoted from recurring guest star on season 2 of ABC's "Scandal" to series regular for the third season of the popular drama by Shonda Rhimes.

"I'm thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people," Foley said in a statement. "Shonda and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling."

The explosive season 2 finale saw black op gun-for-hire and spy for the president thrown into a hole into the ground after saving Olivia (Kerry Washington) from an assassin.

As if we weren't excited enough for the third season! "Scandal" will return on Thursdays this fall.
