Ravens' Steve Smith asks teen with autism to high school prom

BALTIMORE -- "Promposals" are the new big thing -- and an 18-year-old from Maryland may take the prize for the best one yet.

A special North Carolina teen named Aubrey Bridges is a huge fan of Steve Smith Sr. and the Ravens wide receiver just made her dreams come true, CBS Baltimore reported.

It's no secret that fan favorite Steve Smith can dance with the best of them on the football field.

Now, he's taking those moves to the dance floor.

"Hey Aubrey, Steve Smith here, I want to know, will you let me take you to the prom," said the Ravens player.

The Ravens wide receiver, who works with children through a foundation in his name, surprised Aubrey Bridges with the "promposal."

"I can't tell who is more excited about this experience, Aubrey or Steve," said Brandon Lindsey.

Brandon Lindsey founded 'Dream On 3,' which connects athletes with children with disabilities.

Aubrey is autistic and has trouble with speech and auditory processing.

"It's refreshing, especially when a well-known athlete takes time out of his busy schedule," said Lindsey. "I can't imagine the demands on Steve Smith's schedule to be able to do this-to make this dream come true."

Aubrey, who communicates with a pink iPad, accepted Smith's invitation.

"We saw the silly side come out when Steve asked her to prom. She just lit up, she was all smiles, she was dancing," Lindsey said.
