Obamas To Stay At Hay Adams Hotel

(AP)
As we noted in Transition Today this morning, President-elect Barack Obama and his family will be moving to Washington D.C. this weekend.

Previously, it was not known where the president-elect and his family would be staying, but CBS News Political Director Steve Chaggaris has learned that the Obamas will stay at the Hay-Adams hotel through Jan. 15, according to a Democratic source. They will then move to Blair House, the traditional pre-inaugural accommodations for incoming presidents.

Mr. Obama's daughters begin class at Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. on Monday.

The Hay Adams is next to Lafayette Park and near the White House, and is a block north of Blair House. The penthouse presidential suite usually goes for between $2,500 and $5,000 per night.

And here's something that might not please Sasha and Malia: Wikipedia claims the hotel is haunted. From the site:

The Hay-Adams Hotel is said to be haunted by Henry Adams' beloved wife 'Clover' (Marian Hooper Adams), who died by her own hand in 1885. She is said to appear especially during the first and second weeks of December, on the fourth floor. She has been seen hugging or calling out housekeepers names, and she has been heard asking, 'What do you want?'
