NYPD searching for wheelchair-bound bank robbery suspect
NEW YORK -- Police are searching for a possible wheelchair-bound suspect after an alleged bank robbery in Queens on Monday, reports CBS New York.
A man held up a bank at 37th Street and Broadway shortly after 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to the station. Passing a note to the teller -- and without displaying a weapon -- the alleged bank robber took off after receiving about $1,200 in cash, police told CBS New York.
The suspect is then seen on surveillance video wearing jeans and a grey hoodie, rolling his wheelchair westbound on Broadway. The suspect was reportedly described as a 160-pound, clean shaven male, between the ages of 25 and 30 years old.
It was not clear whether the suspect really needed the wheelchair or if it was used as a disguise, CBS New York reported.
A witness from a nearby store told the station that he overheard police saying that they found the wheelchair nearby.
Detectives wouldn't confirm whether the wheelchair that was used in the alleged crime was found, according to CBS New York.
