McCain Focuses on Colorado

(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(DENVER) -- If there was any doubt Colorado is a battleground state, just take a look at John McCain's recent visits. He has made three appearances here this month, and the time he's spent in the state may be starting to pay off. McCain is now ahead of Barack Obama in Colorado by a slim margin, 46 to 44 percent, according to a recent Quinnipiac poll. While it might not sound like much, that's a swing of seven percentage points since their last poll on June 26th, which showed Obama ahead, 49 to 44 percent.

And with higher poll numbers comes more money. McCain attended a fundraiser here last night held by private equity fund manager Charlie Gallagher, who called it the biggest fundraiser in Colorado history, raising $3.2 million. Later this morning, he will talk about his plans to help small businesses at the Wagner Equipment Company in Aurora.
