J.K. Rowling working on "Harry Potter" encyclopedia

(CBS News) J.K. Rowling will publish her first novel for adults later this year, but it appears she's still not finished with the world of Harry Potter.

The British author revealed on her website that she's begun writing a "Potter" encyclopedia.

In the "FAQs and Rumours" section of her site, Rowling shared, "For a long time I have been promising an encyclopedia of Harry's world, and I have started work on this now - some of it forms the new content in Pottermore. It is likely to be a time-consuming job, but when finished I shall donate all royalties to charity."

Pottermore is a free interactive website where fans can navigate the "Harry Potter" universe, including access to content not published in the original books.

Four years ago, the Guardian notes, Rowling won a copyright claim against a small American publisher that wanted to release an unauthorized guide to the "Potter" series. Rowling called the project "wholesale theft of 17 years of my hard work," and a U.S. judge ruled it would cause her irreparable harm as a writer.

The author's next book, "The Casual Vacancy," will be released on Sept. 27.
