INXS calls it quits: Report

Is INXS breaking up? Many signs point to yes.

Although the band hasn't officially released a statement (one is expected Tuesday), INXS hinted at the split at a concert in Perth, Australia on Sunday night.

According to Perth Now, drummer Jon Farriss told the crowd that INXS was disbanding, saying, "I'm getting teary" before launching into "Need You Tonight."

Current INXS frontman Ciaran Gribbin took to Facebook to address the media reports, according to the Australian site, though his post has since been deleted. "Dear friends, I know a lot of you are concerned and want clarification on what happened at the INXS gig last night in Perth," he wrote. "As I write this most of INXS are on a plane flying from Perth to Sydney. Please try and be patient as the Band plan to release a full statement on the subject ASAP. I'm sorry I can't say anymore at this time and hope this helps ease a few worries and concerns. Thank you All for all the love and kind wishes. Ciaran."

Sources close to the Australian band told Perth Now that the members met with longtime manager, Chris Murphy, on Monday morning to iron out the details. Murphy is reportedly on his way back to Sydney to prepare a statement, reports Perth Now.

INXS has had a series of various vocalists ever since the death of Michael Hutchence in 1997, including Jon Stevens and Terence Trent D'Arby. Canadian rocker J.D. Fortune won the 2005 "Rock Star" TV competition and fronted the group until last year; Gribbin took over in 2011.

The INXS line-up features Andrew Farriss (keyboards), Tim Farriss (guitar), Jon Farriss (drums), Kirk Pengilly (guitar/saxophone) and Gary Gary Beers (bass).

Fortune tweeted the following message on Sunday: "They are my friends and I feel very sad for them. It was an honour to have been a part of the bands history. Love and Mayhem."
