Elementary School Locked Down After Parents Throw Temper Tantrum at Kindergarten Graduation
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (CBS/AP) Do you think they were arguing over who was better at finger painting 101?
School officials in Victorville, Calif., about 40 miles north of San Bernardino, placed Puesta del Sol Elementary on lockdown Wednesday after a fight broke out among a group of parents during their kindergarteners' graduation ceremony.
No arrests were made and San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Karen Hunt said that by the time deputies responded to the school the fight had broken up, according to the Victorville Daily Press.
Witnesses told the responding deputies that several of the mothers got into a verbal argument and moved away from the tots' ceremony to a nearby field. That's when it reportedly got physical, with some fathers jumping into the mix for an all out parent-on-parent brawl, Hunt told the paper.
Hunt confirmed that the school was put on lockdown but would not elaborate on why and said that no injuries were reported, so no arrests were made.
One witness reported that one of the brawlers had a weapon but that couldn't be verified by the Daily Press.
None of the children were hurt but they were probably pretty embarrassed.
