(CBS/AP) SANTE FE, N.M. - A former New Mexico shoe salesman was arrested for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend and trying to sever her big toe with a cigar cutter, after already being accused of biting off part of her toe twice.

If the shoe salesman fits...

Sante Fe police said the recent incident was the third time 27-year-old Daniel Anaya attacked his ex-girlfriend, who moved to Albuquerque and had obtained a restraining order against him after the two previous toe-biting incidents.

Police say Anaya, who used to work as a shoe salesman at a department store, tracked down the woman at her new home and attacked her Monday night, but she was able to fight back with a metal fork and escape.

Anaya was arrested that evening after he returned to Santa Fe and sought emergency medical treatment.
