Cops: Reports of shots fired at cars on Mich. highways linked
TEKONSHA, Mich. -- Authorities in southwestern Michigan are investigating multiple reports of shots being fired at cars over the course of nearly a month on Interstate 94 and Interstate 69.
The Calhoun County sheriff's office initially said the damage is being blamed on "projectiles." But a closer look at some vehicles confirms that damage is related to gunshots.
The incidents occurred between July 29 and Aug. 21 in Calhoun and Branch counties. No injuries have been reported.
Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton told 24 Hour News 8 that all of the reported incidents -- at least five -- happened during the day.
He believes the shootings were intentional and that they are all connected, reports CBS Detroit, though investigators are still unsure if they're looking for one or multiple shooters.
A task force -- including officers from the Michigan State Police and several other law enforcement agencies -- is reportedly working on the case.
