Fresno State football player arrested for campus threat

FRESNO, Calif. - Authorities say a freshman football player at California State University, Fresno has been arrested in connection with a social media threat that described a plan to shoot students on campus.

Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta says the threat was made anonymously Monday on the messaging app Yik Yak and included a photo of a library on campus. It detailed the gun that would be used and implied the attack would occur Monday afternoon.

The Fresno Bee reports police located the IP address used to send the message and arrested the student on a charge of making a criminal threat.

Huerta didn't identify the student but the university says in a statement campus police arrested 18-year-old football player Christian Malik Pryor on campus. It says Pryor is a freshman from Los Angeles. CBS affiliate KGPE reports Pryor is a walk-on wide receiver for the team, and was a standout in high school in Los Angeles.

Pryor is alleged to have made the threat on the messaging app "Yik Yak," threatening to "release my frustrations" at 3 p.m. on Monday, while outlining what gun would be used, reports KGPE. The post threatened female students specifically. The threat prompted people to leave campus and make calls for help.

"To the fullest extent of the law we'd like to see something done with this. This isn't a game. This isn't something people just do," said Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta.
