Caught On Tape Best Of 2006

CBSNews.com's Nicola Menzie pulls together her favorite "Caught On Tape" moments from 2006.

A new year is almost upon us, which means it's time to start considering resolutions. Here's a suggestion from the "Caught On Tape" corner: If you're a head of state, it may not be a good idea to kiss a young boy's stomach before flashing bulbs and rolling cameras. And if you're a woman thinking about robbing a store, wear the right clothing or you just may lose your shirt.

Yes, those and plenty more were some of the odd, hysterical and disturbing happenings that were caught on tape in 2006. But don't despair, "Caught On Tape" has compiled the most memorable 10 videos of the year.

Leading the pack is a special combination video including Putin Rubs Boy's Stomach and Bush's Shoulder Rub Surprise. Let's just say, between Russian President Vladimir and President Bush, there was a whole lot of rubbing going on.

This next video was almost No. 1 just for its lunacy. The title Man Gets Naked In Store may sum it up, but there is definitely more than meets the eye in this instance. KDKA-TV's Mary Berecky breaks it down.

School spirit brought this video near the head of the pack. Cheerleader Survives Fall gets kudos because not only did the cheerleader involved fall flat on her head, she continued cheering as she was carried out on a stretcher — neck brace and all.

Perhaps one of the most disturbing videos of the year, Man Sets Wife On Fire, likely had viewers gasping in disbelief. One wonders what it was like for the eyewitnesses of Roger Hargrave dousing his estranged wife with gasoline and setting her on fire.

Reporter Attacked On Tape is a prime example of when the table gets turned on the media. A couple who didn't fancy a reporter and his camera's prying eyes decided to let their feelings be known.

The fashion industry was in the spotlight this year — not for new designs, but over an old issue: models who are too skinny. However, Models Take Spill On Runway has nothing to do with that. In this case, it's either just a matter of impractical design or maladroit models — or maybe both.

Usually you hear about humans displacing animals by encroaching on their natural habitat. But what do you do when an animal, like a mountain lion, for example, decides to flip the script? Find out in Mountain Lion In Man's Home.

There wouldn't be anything unordinary about the video Thief Wants Shirt Back if the thief wasn't a woman and also had to return the stolen money in exchange for her shirt. This lucky lady gets the Dumbest Criminal of the Year award. Perhaps she should've just gone the route of Man Gets Naked In Store and made the flash of nudity appear intentional.

With a title like Bus Collides With Dump Truck, one would think there'd be nothing to laugh about — au contraire. The panic-filled screams of the passengers are more likely to evoke giggles than pangs of empathy. Since no one was seriously injured, it may be OK to frown and then smile while watching this roller coaster ride of a commute.

Finally, this last video almost didn't make the cut, but President Bush Curses On Tape just had to make the top 10 list. There's nothing amusing, disturbing or shocking about this video. It's a winner just on pure tension and the fear that the 43rd president of the United States — well-known for his tendency to misspeak — will say something, well, embarrassing on an open mic.
