Carrie Fisher Remembers Her Father

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Carrie Fisher fondly remembers her late father Eddie Fisher as an "extraordinary talent and a true mensch."

The daughter of the  singer and actress Debbie Reynolds became a film star herself, playing  Princess Leia in the first three "Star Wars" films.

She later became  a best-selling author of "Postcards From the Edge" and other books.

The 53-year-old actress, born in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Oct. 21, 1956,  spent most of 2008 on the road with her autobiographical one-woman stage play "Wishful Drinking."

In an interview with The Associated Press, she told of singing with her father on stage in San Jose, Calif. Eddie Fisher was by then in a wheelchair and living in San Francisco.

"He was loved and  will be missed by his four children as well as his six grandchildren," Carrie Fischer said on her Twitter account, which the website says has been verified as belonging to the actress.

She also wrote through her Twitter profile: "My Puff Daddy passed away Wednesday night due to complications following his hip surgery. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch."
