Police: Attempted store robbery turned into knife fight

BOSTON, Mass. - Police say three men were hospitalized, including one facing criminal charges, after an alleged attempted robbery turned into a knife fight.

CBS Boston reports that the incident began Wednesday night when Isaac Rosa, the owner of Familia Grocery, told Kristofer Soderberg that he couldn't bring his dog into the Boston store.

Soderberg, 38, returned later, allegedly with a knife. Police say he went behind a counter and attempted to rob the store.

But Boston Police Deputy Superintendent Dennis White said the store owner also had a knife. The two began to fight, and a store employee joined in. It is not clear if the employee also used a knife in the altercation.

All three men suffered stab wounds, but are expected to fully recover, police said.

Soderberg was arraigned in his hospital bed on a charge of armed assault with intent to rob and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
